Established in 2013 Alpine Community Plantation Inc. is an independent community-based organisation.  We are the result of an innovative public, private & community partnership – the first of its kind for Australia and are responsible for the recreational, educational and community use of almost 20,000 hectares of HVP Plantations land within the Alpine Shire.

Our aim is to develop a nature-based tourism precinct with a difference.  A community-run recreational space that creates iconic hand-built walking and mountain bike trails and is the home of national and community events, within the constraints of a commercial pine plantation.
A space that is created by and for the visitors and residents of the Alpine Shire.

HVP Plantations is one of the largest private plantation companies in Australia with plantations situated around Victoria – but HVP Plantations is more than just a source of timber for local industry.

The pine plantations have been a part of the skyline of Bright and Myrtleford for over 90 years and by opening up these plantations for recreational use they want to enhance the relationship between the community and the forest industry.

HVP Plantations believe that by increasing community involvement and understanding of plantation management, the community will ultimately have a greater stake in the ongoing success of the plantation.

Located in the north east of Victoria the Alpine Shire includes the towns of Bright, Myrtleford and Mt Beauty and the villages of Porepunkah, Wandiligong and Harrietville.

Life in the Alpine Shire is all about enjoying the great outdoors and the development of a world-class tourism experience within the Shire not only provides value for residents and visitors it also enables Council to play a pivotal role in a project that has real economic benefit to the Shire and the broader region.

As part of the 'Putting Locals First Program' the State Government of Victoria has contributed $150,000 to the development of trails for walking and cycling within Alpine Community Plantation.

The Putting Locals First Program is a component of the Regional Growth Fund a $100 million initiative designed to enable regional communities to devise and deliver service and infrastructure responses that reflect local priorities.

The program supports stronger and more sustainable regional communities by building their capacity to drive development in their region.

Based in Bright, the Alpine Cycling Club is led by a group of passionate volunteers all working to give mountain bikers a bigger and better experience every time they ride.

The Alpine Cycling Club plays an enormous role in the ongoing development of the mtb network within the plantation.

By giving up huge amounts of their time to build and maintain the trails they make sure that whether it’s the National Championships or a weekend ride there will always be quality trails.
